Cuban Medianoche Sandwich
Pressed sweet-bread sandwiches with roast pork, ham, Swiss and pickles make an excellent quick dinner.

Ingredients
- 2 soft Cuban rolls or brioche hamburger buns
- 2 tsp yellow mustard
- 6 oz cooked roast pork, thinly sliced
- 4 thin slices deli ham
- 4 thin slices Swiss cheese
- 8 dill pickle slices
- 1 tbsp softened butter
- 1 tsp orange juice
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- Black pepper
- Simple green salad, for serving
Steps
- Heat a sandwich press or a heavy skillet over medium heat. Stir orange juice and oregano into the roast pork to lightly moisten it, and season it with black pepper.
- Split the rolls and spread mustard on the cut sides.
- Layer pork, ham, Swiss and pickles onto the bottom halves, then close the sandwiches and butter the outsides.
- Press or cook under a second heavy skillet until bread is crisp and cheese is melted, 3 to 4 minutes per side if using a skillet.
- Rest 2 minutes, cut each sandwich in half, and serve with a simple green salad.
